Although the formula below looks terribly complicated, the moving average it generates is rather simple. This is the formula for the triangular moving average.

It gets its name from the fact that the weighting resulting from it is shaped like a triangle. The highest weightings are given to the elements
in the middle of the period as shown in the graph on the next page. For periods with an equal number of elements the two middle elements are of equal height and form the peak of the
triangle. For periods with an odd number of elements, the middle element forms a single peak. Continue
